Hell ya, Cookies!!

Raw Chocolate Chip Cookies!

Nothing is more comforting than a warm chocolate chip cookie. Enjoy these with a glass of almond milk and you will be in complete BLISS! I love how raw foods are so versatile and better than the foods we grew up with, because they are good for you! I created this recipe modeled after my mothers cooked recipe. They are delicious! You could eat this whole plate of cookies and know that it is giving your body so much good stuff! Live enzymes, vitamins, minerals and most of all LOVE!

Ingredients
2 1/2 Cups almond meal (grind raw almonds in coffee bean grinder)
1/2 tsp. pink Himalayan salt
1/2 cup raw honey
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/2 raw cacao nibs

Vitamix all ingredients except cacao nibs. Add them to the batter once it is all combined.
Roll dough into balls and place on Excalibur dehydrator trays with non-stick sheets. Flatten with fork. You may need to occasionally dip the fork in water, so it doesn't stick to the cookie. Dehydrate for 6- 8 hours.
EnJOY!!

Raw Orange Dreamsicle

I was inspired to create this recipe after listening to my kids talk about how much they loved Orange Creamsicles! I grabbed these ingredients, which are filled with living goodness, and whipped up a treat that we all enjoyed!
The coconut water is loaded with electrolytes and oranges and Pineapples have incredible health benefits which give your skin that beautiful glow. The pineapple is rich in vitamin C and fiber. They also include an enzyme called bromelain which aids digestions.

Raw Orange Dreamsicle

One Young Coconut (meat and water)
One Orange peeled
One Cup Pineapple

Raw Reality

When you are consuming living foods, filled with living waters and juices, you reflect vibrant health in your appearance! When you eat whole, living vitamins, nutrients and enzymes, you have all you need to grow a healthy, beautiful body. I never thought that after having four children I could ever have a lean body again. Today, I am in better shape than I was even before having kids and that is a miracle to me! This is all from eating raw foods. I eat as much as I want, all day long. As long as the food I eat is living, I will only gain happiness!

It seems like I am sloughing off my old body completely and every cell is regenerating. My entire physical being is transforming as a result of eating raw. Not only that, but by having a great attitude about it, I make it so! I truly feel that this is healthiest way for me to live and eat and because of this, it becomes my reality. The law of attraction does play a huge role in my "results" and physical appearance. I feel that it is a combination of raw foods and my beliefs and attitude about them that creates my results. If someone shifted to a raw diet but didn't feel good about it, I don't think they would have the same experience.

I also take the time to really LOVE what I am eating... meaning I take the time to look and touch my food and focus positive energy and love on it before I eat it. That might sounds strange, but doing so just came natural after a while of being raw. I really connect with my food in a new way. I can't wait to have a HUGE garden this year and go out and tell my veggies how much I love them! The neighbors will think I'm crazy, but what's new?!

I have come to the conclusion that raw foods are like breastmilk. In the same way that breastmilk communicates with the baby on a cellular level and is created specifically for that individual baby's needs, I believe that living foods do the same for us. On a cellular level, the alive food meets our individual needs and has the ability to communicate with out body to become the perfect food for our own unique needs. It is miraculous and so much more than nutrition! It is natures perfect food completely catered to our individual needs.

Raw Popcorn?

I shared in my last blog entry about my love and craving for popcorn! I found an amazing raw "popcorn" recipe and altered it a bit to meet my own specific taste. (I love nutritional yeast, garlic and onion). The popcorn is sprouted, then dehydrated buckwheat groats! I add 1 Tbl. of olive oil, some nutritional yeast, onion powder, garlic herb salt and pink Himalayan salt. It is delicious and I have really enjoyed grabbing handfuls of it throughout the day!

Rawkin' Pug!

Buddha's Favorite Pâté

1 clove garlic
1 Tbl pink salt
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup other nuts, like cahsews, almond or walnuts
2 cups spinach
2 Tbl extra virgin olive oil
1 Tbl spirulina

Throw all ingredients into your Vitamix and process into pâté. Dogs love chlorophyll, which is why they eat grass. Buddha LOVES this living food and he gobbles it up as soon as it hits the floor. He loves this green, healthy food much more than the canned food we were feeding him before with cooked meat and fillers. We still give Buddha the dry food that we always gave him that we leave out all the time. Maybe that will change, but we don't want to move to fast with this diet change for him. So far, so good.
(thank you for Ani Phyo for the original recipe! I changed a bit to cater to Buddha's tastes)

Raw Without Agenda

Although Joe and I decided to adopt a raw food lifestyle, our children have the freedom to choose what they eat everyday. I will happily cook anything they want, without pushing my own agenda on them. However, since becoming raw, our children have shifted their diets as a side effect of our choices. They have been choosing more and more raw, vegan foods. They taste
some of the meals and snacks that I make and have even begun making their own raw snacks and meals! After only six months, so much has changed in our family in regards to nutrition. My focus was to live a healthier life and in doing so, my whole family has followed.

Ivy, my 7 year old, created this picture today. She asked me to write the title, "Superfoods" on the top. Seeing this adds new meaning to the quote, "Children Learn What They Live". I truly believe that if I pushed my agenda and beliefs on my children, they would have resisted me making such a drastic change. My only job is to focus on myself in my personal choices, while supporting the choices of my children without judgement. My kids see the joy living a raw life brings me and they ask me so many questions. I share with them honestly about why I changed my life, and how I feel now as a result of doing so. They eat more and more living, raw foods everyday and I continue to support them on their own unique life path.

These raw tostadas were so flavorful and delicious! There are so many layers of flavor and amazing textures. You have to try them. Raw, Sexy B.L.T.'s

I made these for lunch today! The kids really loved them. Since becoming raw, I've been offering more and more raw foods to our kids. They have the freedom to eat whatever they choose, and I will buy, cook and prepare all of their favorites, without my own agenda or personal beliefs getting in the way of our connection. However, since becoming raw, our children have been eating more and more living foods, which is an unexpected, wonderful side effect of choosing to eat raw.

These B.L.T.'s are made from raw tomato wraps, (Ani Phyo's recipe) eggplant bacon (found online), lettuce, tomato and raw mayo!
These are one of those recipes that I am so grateful to have the Excalibur Dehydrator for! I will keep creating, offering and adding more and more raw foods to the list of living foods that my kids love!

Rawk On!

My Raw Go-To!

I had a treat this morning! My friend Christina made me some delicious raw cranberry scones! I topped them with raw almond butter, bananas, strawberries and raw honey! Such a lovely way to start the day!

My favorite raw go-to snack is apples or celery with raw almond butter!
I eat it at least once a day!! I usually eat it mid-morning. What is your favorite go-to raw snack?

Rawk Then Roll!

If you are just starting out with living, raw food, there are a few ways that you can slowly immerse yourself into the raw food life.

Add Smoothies – I have always liked smoothies and found them to be an easy way to add more raw foods into my diet when I first started out. A smoothie for breakfast, instead of eating your usual meal might work for you. Throw some Superfoods, bananas, spinach and berries into your blender and enjoy the ride! It fills you up and gives you so much energy to start your day! Joe and I start every day with a green smoothie and then have a vegetable smoothie (like a homemade V8), made with tomato, celery cucumber and whatever else we feel like throwing in the blender, late afternoon. Smoothies between raw meals help to keep you satisfied from one meal to the next.

"Have a Totally Raw Day – One day of the week; immerse yourself into raw foods cuisine. Go to the your local store and buy a huge amount of organic fruits and vegetables. Having one 100% raw day per week can give your body a rest and let it heal and rebuild. You will notice the difference in how you feel eating raw, verses eating cooked food. The contrast in the way you feel physically and emotionally will help you decide if the raw path is right for you.

Raw food is replete with everything that enables it to sprout and grow - life force, enzymes, water, oxygen, hormones, vitamins and minerals and so much more besides. Untouched, untainted, raw food is quite literally honest food - what you see is what you get. No hidden ingredients, nothing messed around with, just pure, delicious, fresh, live food. Food that we are designed to eat - living food for living bodies. And the good news for you is this: when you start dabbling with more raw food, you don't just understand this conceptually, you actually start to get it experiencially, as your whole body celebrates the concept of what real food and nutrition is really all about. Your body shifts gears and so does your mind. Food begins to take on a whole new meaning."
Thank you to Paula Cartwright, Perfectly Raw www.bodycurenaturopathica.com for the ideas and and information.

If I can rawk it, so can you!

Rawk Your' New Year!

Today I made a few new high-vibe meals!
Stuffed, marinated, portobello mushrooms with raw "roasted" yellow peppers and a spinach salad with fresh sprouts. The stuffing is just sunflower seeds, celery and some herbs. I also made a simple and delicious sour kream to go along with it! It is made from one cup of cashews and 1/4 Cup of lemon juice blended in the Vitamix.

Living Wraps!
Now, these really blew my mind! They were SO easy and insanely delicious!
The wraps are made from 4 tomatoes and 1 Tbl of raw agave blended and then dehydrated for 6 hours. I had my doubts when I smelled them as I put them on the dehydrator sheets, but by the time they were done, they were so flavorful, sweet, and amazing! I filled them with fresh veggies and my raw spicy dill pickles and some more of that yummy raw sour cream.

Raw Strawberry, Kream Tart!

Here's to a new year and a new life, thanks to living, raw foods!
May your 2012 Rawk!!
